Leprosy and Love

Leprosy and Love

A group of businessmen, very successful,
some of them wealthy, were visiting in Korea. They asked if they might go out
and see a mission project, so they were carried to a leprosarium. I’ve been
to one of those, and leprosy is a terrible disease. They observed there a
beautiful young American nurse very tenderly and carefully ministering to
the lepers. One of them said, “If you were back in the United States, wow, she could
be making a lot of money.” And then one said, “I wouldn’t do that for a million
dollars,” and she looked up at him and said, “Neither would I serve, but for the
love of Christ, I’m glad to do it.” The greatest motivator there is in life is
love. It’s not shame, it’s not money, it’s not fear, it’s not trying to get people
to do something they don’t want to do. The greatest motivation is love. Practice it.
