Snack Fever Review- Korean Surprise Snacks

Snack Fever Review- Korean Surprise Snacks

– Hi, I’m Parris, and you know what can
really help when you’re having a bad day? Is when you get a present. Now you can’t necessarily
rely on people you know to give you presents, so you may want to order one for yourself. I think it’s a really good use of these monthly subscription boxes. My daughters and I used to
review a number of them. Kind of fallen out of that habit, but a company contacted me recently and said, “We’ve got a great one. “Would you like to try it?” It is Snack Fever. It’s Korean snacks, so not only is it a present, it’s a surprise and it involves food. ♫ Epic Review Guys ♫ Those three elements are enough to make this a winner in my book. They have snack boxes
starting at just over $10 dollars a month, going up to $40 something dollars a month if you want a really substantial box that has lots of snacks. Thank you to the people at Snack Fever for sending me this
assortment box to try out. Let’s see what’s inside. I had lunch awhile ago. I could do with an afternoon snack. Oh, there’s a lot of stuff in here and it includes chocolate. Yay. Now I was just thinking with this that it’s so nice to get a surprise present, even if it’s something
you ordered for yourself and you forgot that you ordered it, but I was just thinking that
I might sign my sister up for a monthly subscription box. She has some depression issues and I don’t get to see her very often. She’s up in Seattle. And always send birthday
card, Christmas present, but wouldn’t it be nice
to set up something so that a person could receive something as a surprise monthly that comes from you. You were thinking of them, and it’s food they can have. Snacks and treats. I like that idea. I’m really thinking I might sign her up for a monthly subscription box. Okay, now I’ve received
these with Japanese snacks before because I lived
in Japan for six years and studied estudiously. I learned some Japanese
so I could read them, but in Korea, where they also use Kanji like they do in Japan and in China, they have a different alphabet system for the way the word sounds and I can’t read that. So I’ll make my best guess
as to what these things are. I’m thinkin’ it’s
chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. Now why did nobody ever
think of doing that here in the U.S.? This looks fishy. Just from that color of orange. Maybe I’m wrong on this. I’m not a big fan of
seafood other than just simple things like salmon and halibut, but this looks like a shrimp
crackery kind of thing. This one almost looks like English. It almost looks like it says lokay, little chocolate cakes. Two because they’re so
good you’re gonna want another one after you
finish the first one. Ah, I feel like I can read
this but I guess I can’t. It looks like cho something something, so I’m thinking chocolate, but I can’t tell from the picture. It looks like the pokey
sticks with some kind of a meatball, maybe chicken meatball. It says in English dark chocolate. I always called them
pokey sticks in Japan, and I guess they’re pocky sticks, so I continue to mispronounce them even decades later. These are some kind of crackers. I’m so unable to read Korean I wasn’t sure which way was right side up. I’m thinkin’ its that way. Okay. Um, there’s cooking involved in this one. This is a ramen and it
looks like there’s a bag of beans and peas and
sauce that I imagine you put into a bag of boiling water and then of course you boil the noodles and you make yourself a lunch from that. It can’t be chocolate. I can’t believe that’s chocolate. Now this is rare. I don’t think I’ve seen
this in many of the other subscription boxes. They actually give you a drink
to go along with the snacks. I like this. This is coco grape. So grape and coconut drink. Coffee, since it says max-spresso. I’m guessing it’s coffee, though it could be powdered tea. This looks like Starburst
chews based on the color. And this is I think
lemon-type of Starburst chews. It mentions da-da-da-da-da C with the letter C that I can read so these are vitamin C enhanced. Like a vitamin candy. And a couple little hard candies which I don’t know what
these flavors are, either. Now I imagine that when you get the, oh, there’s another one, when you get the monthly subscription box they probably give you
an inset that tells you in this month’s box here are the snacks, so you can find out exactly what they are and read about them, and that always makes it more interesting. But they did mention
they were gonna send me a variety of the different snacks. So I’m on my own to figure them out. Yay. And I don’t have kids here
that I have to share this with. I get all of it, not just a third. Before I dig in here and
try some of these out, I did want to mention
that I am recording this in binaural audio, which means I’m using the little, if you’ve seen my other videos, the little earbuds that
have the microphone, but I’m not wearing them. I actually have them
taped to a phone dollhead just across the table from
me and just down below where you can see. So I wanted to try this out. Some people have mentioned
when I’m wearing them that it picks up the sound so well that you can actually hear me breathing, which I think that would bother me unless I wanted to hear
someone’s breathing, I wouldn’t want to hear it
incidentally in a video. So I’ve put them across the table from me which is about where you would be sitting if you were here, and of course then I’d half to
share half of this with you. So if you’re listening to
this video with headphones or earbuds you may be
able to hear some of the left/right binaural effect. And for some reason
crinkling in binaural audio always seems to be a big thing, so you can enjoy that, too. Where to start? Let’s see. I’m gonna open up the drink. Coco grape. Well they even put the nutrition facts, oh, in English. They may be required
if they sell this here. Smells very grapey. I don’t smell the coconut. (laughs) I taste it because
there’s a chunk of coconut. I think it’s a chunk of coconut. It’s more like coconut candy. There’s something’ floatin’ in this that’s now in my mouth and I’ve swallowed. I can leave it at that. I’ve had the coconut water where they don’t add a lot of sugar and it’s got little chopped
up cubes of coconut in it. I don’t quite care for that, but this, the grape flavor is very strong and I’m thinking they put
chunks of coconut in here. Contains coconut jelly. Okay, so a sweetened relative of coconut. It’s disconcerting to have solid objects floating into your mouth from the drink. But it’s good. I want to see if these
are chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. Not gonna be able to tell
by looking at the label. Chocolate. Oh, they’re so tiny. They’re like little mini coffee beans. They’re not the color. They’re a little bit too
glossy to be chocolate, but I expect that they are. Peeling the chocolate off and
seeing what’s inside here. It’s more like a, oh no. It actually is. Yeah, I was thinking it’s
like a Rice Krispy thing, but no, no. There is the actual sunflower seed. Chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. Okay, now how do they taste? It’s not bad, but it’s not, I can’t place it. It’s like a grainy, like
chocolate with grain. It’s good because there’s
a little bit of that salt to the sunflower
seed with the sweetness of the chocolate. That’s always a good combination. I like this. Not as healthy as just
eating sunflower seeds, though, I think. Cake. These both strawberry? Yup. And it’s like a complete cake. Chocolate on the outside and then the two layers of cake with
strawberry in the middle. Fancy. And it didn’t melt. That’s my concern with ordering anything that involves chocolate
or anything that can melt. Here in Texas in the summertime
it’s over 100 many days, and if it sits out on the
front porch it’s going to melt. Can you hear the airplane flying over? I’m thinking that’s gonna pick it up. Here’s the cake. It’s got frosting design on the top. Plain on the bottom. Mmm, taste the strawberry, too. Taste like a strawberry um, candy sweetener kind of thing, but I guess they can’t put real strawberry in something and not refrigerate it. Next step, I have to
find out whether this is shrimp or something on
these little nuggety things. So I’m gonna open this up and I realized as I was eating the cake, that’s why they included
these max-spresso. I was also able to read, it says, coffee with creamer and sugar, already mixed into it. So you can make yourself a nice, relaxing cup of coffee while you have your snacks. Here comes fish smell, I just know it. Shrimp. Lobster. No. I may be wrong. They’re little grainy, nuggety things. I’m still suspicious. But there’s no pictures
of shrimp on the package. Yeah, I’ll um, reserve judgment on this one ’til later. And the last thing I’ll try
out right now from this set is this one that I saw
has a nutrition label with English printed on it. It says baked potato flavor. So these are the pocky sticks. Baked potato flavor. Now baked potato flavor is all dependent on what you put on your baked potato. I assume it’s gonna taste like potato and butter. No up or down on them. No coating of anything. It’s a different kind of
stick than the pocky sticks. It’s very crunchy. There’s a hint of baked potato. Potato skin, little butter. I guess it could be that
it’s a subtle flavor, which is why I’m not picking up on it. I’m used to the American foods. If you go get baked potato Pringles there is no doubt that
they tried to make them taste like baked potato. So this is a nice assortment
that Snack Fever gives you. Again, if you’re interested in signing up or finding out more about this yourself, I’ll put a link to it
down below this video. And I wasn’t having
the greatest day today, and I’ve had this here in the room for probably five, six days, so today I decided it feels like a day that I would really
appreciate opening this up. And you can do that with
the subscription boxes. You don’t have to open them
the day that you get them. You can wait until there’s a day that you’ll really appreciate them. Whether it’s for yourself or for someone you want to let know that
you’re thinking of them, the monthly subscription
box is a nice idea. And it keeps reminding them monthly that you’re thinking of them. Now if you’re really lucky, they might invite you
over to share the loot when they get the box. In that case, warn them
about this coconut jelly, ’cause that might be a
little bit more surprise than they bargained for. I’ll be back soon with more videos. You can keep checking back for those or you can click that
