Wrecking Ball Gets A Flu Shot

This video was a request. Enjoy the show! Barbara: Wrecking Ball, we’re going to the doctor’s to get your 9 am flu shot. What? I don’t want to get a flu shot! Oh, yes you are! We are dragging you to the doctor’s office by force. Wrecking Ball: I can’t believe you dragged me here by force. Good morning, Wrecking Ball. My name is Dr. Elmo and I am here to give you your trivalent flu shot. Before you do, I have to know why is getting a flu shot important to the community. I’m glad you asked: Roughly 16 to 64 million people get the flu each year. Wow. That’s a lot of people. What groups of people can get the flu shot? Dr. Elmo: The CDC recommends that people ages six months or older can get the flu shot. Can you tell me a little bit more about the trivalent vaccine? Of course. The trivalent vaccine contains two type A strains and one type B strain. Did you know that it takes two weeks for the antibodies that protect you from the flu to develop in the body? Wrecking Ball: Really? Dr. Elmo: Yes. In fact, the person who gets the flu shot by the end of October might have a better chance at surviving this year’s flu season. Thanks for telling me a thing or two about flu shots doctor. Now let’s do it. That wasn’t so bad. Remember: It is never too late to get you and your child a flu shot today at Walgreens.
